Cali is our Triton Cockatoo. She loves to say “Happy Birthday”!
Triton cockatoos are one of the more common members of the greater sulphur crested family of cockatoos. They are large white birds, with sharply contrasting yellow crests that curve upward from the head. They are a simply beautiful species to look at.
Triton cockatoos are found on the island of New Guinea (Papua New Guinea and Irian Jaya- Indonesia) and the west Papuan islands. They inhabit forests, especially mature canopy forests from the lowlands extending up to an elevation of 2,400 m (7,200 ft) in eastern Papua New Guinea. in the wild, cockatoos feed on fruits, nuts, seeds, berries and insects.
